Selection Tips and Tricks: There are many ways to select text in a worksheet. But, in this article, you can learn not only general selection  but also learn selection tips and tricks in several ways.   • To select an entire worksheet sheet, click on the top left corner of the column and row headings common point.

  • To select one column, move the mouse pointer over the column heading, and then click on it.
  •  To select more columns, move the mouse pointer over the column heading, and then click and hold down the left mouse button, afterwards, move the pointer left or right.

  • To select one row, move the mouse pointer over the row headings, and then click on it

To select entire data, columns or rows of the data, follow the steps below:

  • Click within the data in a worksheet.
  • On the Home tab, in the Styles group, click on the Format as Table and then select one of the formats under it.

Select Data, Row, and Table:

  • Another way to select entire data, move the mouse pointer at the top left corner of it till the mouse pointer turned as a diagonal right down arrow, and then click at that point.
  • To select column, move the mouse pointer at the top of the data till mouse pointer turned as a down arrow, and then click at that point.
  • To select row, move the mouse pointer at the right of the data till mouse pointer turned as a right arrow, and then click at that point.
  • To select more columns, move the mouse pointer at the top of the data till mouse pointer turned as a down arrow, and then move left or right by keep holding down the left mouse button.
  •  To select more rows, move the mouse pointer at the right of the data till mouse pointer turned as a right arrow, and then and then move up or down by keep holding down the left mouse button.

  1. To select column/s to the down, click the appropriate area of the data, and then press Ctrl + Shift + ↓
  2. To select row/s to the right, click the appropriate area of the data, and then press Ctrl + Shift + →
  3. To select column/s to the up, click the appropriate area of the data, and then press Ctrl + Shift + ↑
  4. To select row/s to the left, click the appropriate area of the data, and then press Ctrl + Shift + ←
  5. To select one by one cell to the down, click the appropriate area of the data, and then press Shift + ↓
  6. To select one by one cell to the right, click the appropriate area of the data, and then press Shift + →
  7. To select one by one cell to the up, click the appropriate area of the data, and then press Shift + ↑
  8. To select one by one cell to the left, click the appropriate area of the data, and then press Shift + ←.
  • To select entire worksheet when your sheet has some data, click anywhere and then press Ctrl+ A for two times.
  • To select entire worksheet when your sheet doesn’t have  data, click anywhere and then press Ctrl+ A.
