Merging cells is the process of combining more cells into one cell. Similarly, dividing a cell into multiple cells is called unmerge cells.
1. Merge & Center:
Combining more cells into one cell and centring the text is called the Merge & Centre.
- Go to the Home tab
- Select the range of cells and enter the text that you want to merge and center the text
- Then click on the drop-down arrow of the Merge and Center
- Afterwards, select Merge and Center in the Alignment group

2. Merge Across:
Merging cells by combining Vertical lines and leaving horizontal lines to merge across the selected cells.
- Select the range of cells that you want to merge across
- Then go to the Home tab
- After that, click the drop-down arrow, which appears at the right of Merge & Center In the Alignments group.
- And then select Merge Across
