How to Make a Transparent Text Box or Shape in Word

Many people find it very easy to make a transparent text box or shape in Microsoft Office Word (Transparent Text Box or Shape is often referred to as invisible text box or shape). However most people do not even know where this customization tool is.

Making a text box or shape transparent means making the text, text box, or shape beneath it visible. In a way it means like looking at another object from a mirror.

How to Make a Transparent Text Box in Word:

If you want to change the text box transparent, do the following:

  • Click the “Insert” tab
  • Click “Shapes” in the “Illustrations” group
  • Select “Text box“, and then draw a text box in any size you want on your document.
  • Or from the text group, click “Text Box” to expand its formats, and then select one of the formats you want to draw.
  • Then draw a text box in any size you want on your document

  • Now make sure your text box selection
  • Go to the “Drawing Tools Shape Format“, then click the “Format Shape” launcher in the “Shape Styles” group
  • Or right click on the text box when it is on the selection, and then select “Format Shape” to launch its pane towards the right

  • Now make sure that the “Shape options” tab is in the selection of the two tabs on the “Format Shape” pane.
  • Then Select “Fill & Line” bucket, under “Fill” select the transparency percentage (must be more than 50% ). You can also select line transparency percentage.

  • Now move the text box or shape over the text or other shapes or text boxes to see its transparency.

How to Make a Transparent Shape in Word:

Changing transparent shape is the same as the text box as explained above.
