Freeze Panes in MS-Excel 2019, 2016, 2013, 2010, and 2007

Freeze Panes in MS-Excel: Freeze the Upper or Left or both part of the Row and Column Headings to keep it visible while the rest of the worksheet scrolls up and down or left and right. Also, you can unfreeze the panes after freezing the panes.

Freeze Panes:

Freeze upper and left part of the rows and columns while rest of the worksheet scrolls. To freeze the panes, follow the steps below:

Freeze Panes in MS-Word

First, enter the data with column and row headings. For example, look at the picture below.

  1. Now click the common cell which is underneath the row heading and immediate right to the column heading

  2. Then go to the View tab

  3. And then click on the Freeze Panes

  4. Afterwards, select the “Freeze Panes

  5. Now Scroll the page to see the freeze area of the worksheet.

Freeze Top Row (Freeze Panes in MS-Excel):

Freeze the top row of a worksheet while rest of the worksheet scrolls. To freeze the Top Row, follow the steps below:

First, enter the heading on the top of the row in a worksheet. For example, look at the picture below.

  1. Then go to the View tab

  2. And then click on the Freeze Panes

  3. Afterwards, select the “Freeze Top Row

  4. Now Scroll the page to see the freeze area of the worksheet.

Freeze First Column (Freeze Panes in MS-Excel):

Freeze the First column of a worksheet while rest of the worksheet scrolls. To freeze the First Column, follow the steps below:

  1. First, enter the heading in the first column in a worksheet. For example, look at the picture below.

  2. Then go to the View tab

  3. And then click on the Freeze Panes in MS-Excel

  4. Afterwards, select the “Freeze First Column

  5. Now Scroll the page to see the freeze area of the worksheet.

Unfreeze the Panes:

To Unfreeze the pane after freezing the upper and left part of the rows and columns or freeze the left column or  first row in a sheet, click the “Unfreeze Panes”. The first option of the Freeze pane in ms-excel turns as Unfreeze pane while you freeze the rows and columns in a worksheet.
