Cut, Copy and Paste the contents of the Clipboard: Cutting, copying and pasting are the most important options for the Clipboard in MS Word. The cut and copy commands help you temporarily store content on the Clipboard, and the Paste command will help you get the content of the Clipboard in any application you want. Cutting the Text

Cutting means removing the selected text from the document and putting it on the clipboard to Paste the content wherever you want.

Steps:

  1. Select the text you want
  2. Then go to the Home tab (by default you are on the Home tab)
  3. And then click on the Cut in the Clipboard group to put the contents on the Clipboard.

Shortcuts for Cutting the text: Ctrl+C.

 Note: The copied contents go to the clipboard and are removed from the document. 

How to Copy the Text/Content in MS-Word, Excel, Ppt., etc.

Copying the Text

Copying means replicating the selected text from the document and putting it on the clipboard to Paste the content wherever you want.

Steps:

  1. Select the text you want
  2. Then go to the Home tab (by default you are on the Home tab)
  3. And then click on the Copy in the Clipboard group to put the contents on the Clipboard.

Shortcuts for Copying the text: Ctrl+C.

 Note: The copied contents go to the clipboard but, not removed from the document.

How to Paste the Text/Content in MS-Word, Excel, Ppt, etc.

 Pasting the Text

After cutting or copying the content as explained above, the paste command helps you get the content of the clipboard in any application, in any document, wherever you want.

Shortcuts for Pasting the text: Ctrl+V.

Steps:

  1. On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click on the Paste (after cut or copy) to put the content in your word document.
