AutoFit Contents of a Table in MS-Word

AutoFit Table Contents in MS-Word: If the content in the column of a table is less than the width of the column, it is not as professional as it looks. So, resizing the column width of a table according to the content width is called AutoFit Contents.  To do so follow the steps below:

  1. After inserting the table with enough rows and columns, a new table tools design and layout tabs open
  2. After that, you should select the table (if it is not in the selection)
  3. On the Layout tab, in the Cell Size group, click on the drop-down arrow of the AutoFit 
  4. Then select the “AutoFit Contents”
  5. Now the column width fits according to the content size.

Automatically Fit and Resize a Window in MS-Word

  1. After inserting the table with enough rows and columns, a new table tools design and layout tabs open
  2. After that, you should select the table (if it is not in the selection)
  3. On the Layout tab, in the Cell Size group, click on the drop-down arrow of the AutoFit 
  4. Then select the “AutoFit Window” 
  5. Now the table fits in the document by expanding its size.

Fixed Column Width of a Table in MS-Word

To fix the width of the column of a table in the exact size you want called, Fixed Column Width.

  1. After inserting the table with enough rows and columns, a new table tools design and layout tabs open
  2. Change the column width that you want to fix.
  3. After that, you should select the table (if it is not in the selection)
  4. On the Layout tab, in the Cell Size group, click on the drop-down arrow of the AutoFit 
  5. Then select the “Fixed Column Width”
  6. Now the width of the column has fixed as you want.
