What is Undo in Word?

It means going back one by one to work that has been done previously in the document.

What is Redo in Word?

If previously typed content is reversed (cancelled or removed) by using undo, it can be retrieved again by using redo.

Manually Manual Actions in Word

After typing some text in your Word document, you can manually undo or redo the contents using the icons that are presented in the quick access toolbar.

Steps:

After typing, pasting, or working with contents in your document, do the following.

  • Press Ctrl + Z or click its icon in the quick access toolbar once or more than once.
  • To retrieve contents, you need to press Ctrl + Y.

Advanced – Steps to Undo the Contents in Word

After typing, pasting, or working with contents in your document, do the following.

  • To undo the contents of the document completely or partially, click the drop-down arrow of the undo icon to open the list of contents with the steps that you have worked on in the document.
  • Move the mouse pointer down as far as you want.

Steps:

To retrieve contents removed by undo as described above, you need to click on the redo icon or press Ctrl + Y. There is no fully or partially redo option in a word document. You can redo the contents only one by one.
